Wooded handbag with orange suede leather handles

This bag was the first attempt to use the experience I had as a furniture maker and apply it to the creation of a furniture like object to carry and use in everyday life.

The dimensions of the bag are 28cmX23cmX8cm (length X high X depth) with round edges.

The endings are made of red mahogany wood, recycled of a 60 year old staircase. The handle covers are made of cork.

The opening is secured with a small linear magnet, incorporated into the mahogany ending.
The cover and the casing are made of oak veneered mdf, treated with water based colors and water based varnish. The red mahogany decoration is unvarnished.

The inside of the bag is coated with 5mm of bright turquoise felt and a 5mm cork sheet.
In the interior of the bag, where visible and there where the felt joins the wood, there is a covering with a small metallic measuring tape.

The handles are made of reinforced orange suede leather, which length is enough for carrying the bag by the elbow.

The weight of the bag is around 1.1 kgr.
